Building Human-Centric Technology with LLMs: A Survival Guide
AI has drastically changed the world around us. Building products on frontier technology like LLMs brings with it a unique set of challenges: some old, some new. With an unprecedented amount of capital being poured into AI startups, the necessity to out-execute the competition brings bleeding-edge research and asymmetric insights to the forefront of any winning product strategy. Additionally, building on technology that the broad population views with a mixture of excitement and skepticism is a challenge that harkens back to inventions as disruptive as the combustible engine and the light bulb.
How should startups tackle these old and new problems? How do you build trust with users who are told by pop culture and media not to trust AI? How do you find insights that get you to your next breakthrough?

In this fireside chat, Katie Johnson and Zach Herring will share with BSW attendees the things that they see changing about building products in this new age (spoiler alert: iteration will be faster than ever, both in development and user feedback, and product research as a practice will be rewritten from the ground up) as well as to reflect on the tried-and-true product development wisdom that is still relevant while building in and with this new technology. Katie and Zach will reflect on their evolving philosophies and predictions for the next 2-5 years followed by an interactive Q&A for the community to ask questions and share wisdom with each other.
Zach Herring and Katie Johnson have over 30 years of experience building and launching lean businesses at the intersection of emergent technology and deep user needs. Zach has worked with product teams in frontier tech since 2017, first designing ML and Digital Twin platforms with Ellie Mae and GE R&D, then Web3 in 2018 in protocol design and onchain art. Katie served as the lead UXR for 0-1 products inside Google from 2020-2023, including leading UXR for the first launch of Bard (now Gemini), and has built products and services at the intersection of emergent tech and human needs her entire career.

Creating a Workplace You Are Proud Of & A Check List To Do So
Session lead by founding teammate of Rupa Health, Larissa Spearnak. She shares the impacts of a founders values and how those shape culture fom even your first few hires and a mini check list for each stage of your company.

In the bustling ecosystem of startups, a cohesive culture where teammates enjoy working with each other sets the foundation for the future & success of your company. The essence of a company’s culture is formed in the early days, even before the formal values are put into words as they spring unspoken from the founders’ actions.

As founders, it’s important to become aware of the kind of environment you are fostering. But without a rule book, it’s crucial to take intentional steps at every stage. During this workshop, you will learn how to proactively shape the company culture through building community and growing a collective growth mindset.

Embark deep tech startup creator
Interested in creating a startup that leverages world-class technology developed at CU Boulder? This session tells you how and features founders who have done it.

CU Boulder conducts around $700 million in research and development each year, generating a huge amount of breakthrough innovation. Starting in 2023, the university made this portfolio of new technology available to community entrepreneurs with a dedicated startup creation program. "Embark" connects aspiring founders with the university's "deep tech" innovation (think science and engineering technologies like robotics, AI, clean energy, and biotech). Select founders are then funded to start their own company to commercialize the innovation of their choosing, all with the backing of CU Boulder's many entrepreneurship resources.

Hear from founders who participated in the first cohort of Embark, and how they built their new companies in partnership with the university.

WebAssembly and the Future of the Cloud
“WebAssembly on the server is the future of computing” – Solemn Hykes, creator of Docker.
WebAssembly (Wasm) started in the browser as a way to run untrusted code, from a variety of other languages, on the client. The “Penicillin moment” for this technology came when people started realizing its sandboxing model, compilation size, speed, was not just ideal for browsers, but also for server-side computing and micro-services.
Now, going beyond the Client and Server, we see Wasm in IoT devices, robots, distributed and untrusted environments, and more.
So, what if this claim from the original quote doesn’t quite go far enough? There is a very real future where you will find Wasm on the device in your pocket, those in your backpack, data centers, network switches, cars, and a lot more in between. This talk will examine exactly why this is an imminent reality, and in what interesting and innovative ways it’s already unfolding.

Is it time to scale? ...mmmm probably not.
We need to scale. How do we scale this? I know, we need to SCALE SCALE SCALE! We just need to scale to dominate the market!

As a founder, you probably hear that 2-3 times this week ...and its Monday. Maybe even was excited about it, thought about it, even dreamed about it. Of course there's a catch -- it's incredibly likely you really shouldn't.

Scaling a company is an incredibly complex, expensive, and risky move that's hard to take back. The headlines talk about both ends of this. The Silicon Valley darling that experienced explosive growth, everyone be like them! Not long after, the explosive retraction is front and center with closing facilities, laying off staff, "what happened?!" -- and of course, there's more to the story. This isn't your investor/VC pep talk either. Think more "the hard thing about hard things".

This discussion will be a combination of explanation (presenting the words and contexts I use), some history and personal experience, then finally an open, honest discussion about the parts and pieces of scaling intentionally, and smart.

Women Founders Networking
*We've changed venues due to the popularity of this event! Whoo-hoo! River and Woods is happily and graciously hosting space for us. Light snacks will be provided (first-come, first-served) and a cash bar will be available. Looking forward to seeing you all there!

Join us for the launch of W CreateCo., a free group for women founders and business owners. The group is a place to take off the armor, find authentic and genuine connection with others, ask for and give support, and drop pretenses.

The event is open to anyone who is supportive of and comfortable in a space that centers the experiences of women as business owners/founders. The ongoing group itself is offered to women - including cis and trans women - founders and business owners who are comfortable in that same centering space.

Learn more about the group - what it is and isn't, what we stand for, and ways to participate - on our website.

Can't make the event? Want to join the group ahead of time? No prob/go you! Applications are required to hold space for the integrity of the group, but aren't competitive. (That's the opposite of what we're trying to do.) Fill out an application to join the group here.

Some venue logistics:

Parking for the event:
  • There is a building/parking lot just to the east of River & Woods. The lot says you cannot park there, but you can - the building is vacant.
  • There is parking and 2-hour parking on many of the streets around the venue
  • You can also park at the Boulder Chamber building and walk 1-2 blocks to River & Woods.

During the event:
  • Please be patient with getting food/drinks. This is a big crowd to try to serve quickly. Servers will be circulating and  you can also go to the bar inside. Focus and have
  • There is a pre-set menu of available drinks in order to serve efficiently.
  • If you bring cash, you can avoid having to wait to pay your tab if you're in a hurry at the end of the event.
  • Tip well! These tired servers are coming off of a busy graduation and Mother's Day weekend.

After the event:
  • You're welcome to stay and mingle, just please pay attention to where staff would like you to be so we're respectful of the diners at the restaurant
  • As of now, there is still availability to grab a table and eat afterwards. Talk to a server or staff member to be seated.

Supporting Individual and Community Actualization
Mobile phone and the internet are powerful technology and should absolutely be used in right relationship with tools we know that can support people in their wellbeing.  We believe that to truely realize our potential, we must learn from and support individuals in their process of actualization (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-actualization) and support the coming together of individuals in a larger whole (community).

In this workshop, we will share how technology, coupled with on-the-ground experience, can be not just a synergistic, but imperative part of our evolutionary growth and potential.

We will cover topics from evolutionary biology, anthropology, philosopy, psychology, modern technology and couple these "heady" topics with some in-person exercises to support deeper and more meanigful connection with each other and life.

Our goal in this is to paint a picture and lay a roadway to how we can effectively grow out of the growing pains we are experiencing in the world today.

If you care about building a perma-culture, a society that is in right relationship with each other and the world, this workshop is for you!

Tell your Founder Story
You know you need to tell a better story, and that your story will set you apart from the mob, but most entrepreneurs don't know what a good story is, how to tell it with unshakable confidence, or how to make it 100% relevant to your audience – so they buy from you, tell their friends about you and stick around for the long haul. In this session, Johanna demonstrates that stories have the power to build loyal followings, raise revenue and change the world.

You'll learn:
*How to boil your big mess of a story down to its compelling essense
*Why the *right* story is absolutely essential if you want to get the funding and effectively convey your why
*Why the stories you think are great stories might be derailing your mission and costing you money

The Way We Sound - Workshop/Discussion
The acoustics of who we are resonates in all we do. Whether a room packed with others, a message sent online, or a solitary thought bouncing in our own head, we are always shaping how we sound to ourselves and others. In the same way that music sticks with and leaves an impression on us, our own acoustics impress a lingering sound around us. As our sound travels, it is influenced and shaped by mindset, assumptions, how we send it, and how it is received.

How can we ensure messages of importance are getting through? How can we say what needs to be said, while allowing space for others to feel invited to participate? How can we sound authentic and consistent when our moods just aren't? And can we influence only our own sound? Join for an exploration of factors that impact our sound and a couple of techniques to keep on reserve - and through discussion & discovery with one another, build shared knowledge.

**Bring a pen and something you can write on (book/clipboard/etc.) - I'll be passing out worksheets for partner and individual exercises.

Builders' Room Kickoff
Why Can't We Have Nice Things?

Because we have to build them first.

Boulder is amazing. BUT… People are busy. And sometimes the people you really wish you could build with fall into that category. Life. So let's give ourselves an excuse to get together and build awesome things.

Enter the Boulder Startup Week Builder's Room.

The builder's room is not about competing with other people. It's about getting things out of your head and onto the page. Tune out the hype, meet some cool people, see if you can, for a couple days, give yourself permission to leave your ego at the door, learn something, better yet, teach someone.

Better still, build the infrastructure we need to make the energy of startup week persist after everyone goes home. We're focusing on community and collaboration through the lens of gamification. We hope to celebrate projects that will solve the community's pressing needs. We're going to kick things off in the Galvanize classroom and then hope to take over the town, with regular check-ins Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at the basecamp.

Because if you're not building? What exactly are you doing?

Empowering Remote Assistance: Introducing the iiPhone for Elderly Support
Navigating technical issues over the phone can be a daunting task, especially when assisting elderly relatives like my 94-year-old grandmother who simply wants to connect with her great-grandchildren. The challenge of conveying and resolving technical problems remotely becomes even more pronounced in such scenarios.
What if there was a solution that allowed us to bridge this gap effectively? Imagine being able to remotely view the screen, manipulate controls, and input commands as if we were physically present. With the iiPhone, a novel Remote Human Interface Device, this vision becomes a reality.
Join me on a journey as we delve into the intricacies of HID protocols, both USB and Bluetooth, which serve as the backbone of the iiPhone's functionality. We'll explore the Linux drivers essential for enabling USB+HID gadgets, along with the innovative process of flashing phones via the web.
Moreover, we'll uncover the potential of leveraging our ubiquitous pocket devices as conduits for transmitting and receiving HID signals, thereby facilitating seamless remote assistance. Learn how to connect local HID devices to smartphones capable of emulating HID functionality, paving the way for enhanced support experiences.
In embracing such technological advancements, we not only address immediate challenges but also pave the path for a future where distance no longer hinders our ability to provide essential assistance and connection, bridging generations effortlessly.

Mental Wellness Through Change
Change in life and business creates moments of excitement combined with the fear of the unknown. Navigating change and transition can impact your mental health.

Each of us has mental health, just as we have physical health, and during times of change and transition most of us need additional ways to deal with the extra mental stress.

When you are mentally healthy, you enjoy life and the people in it. This is when you can be creative, learn, try new things, and take risks. Ultimately, you are better able to cope with uncertainty, change, and transition when you are intentional about your mental wellness.

Here’s What You Learn:
-When to increase individual resourcing for mental wellness, even before you may be struggling
-How to identify when mental health is declining and you need extra support
-Strategies to improve individual mental wellness and resilience, and when to ask for help

Who We Are Is Not What We Do: Work, Worth, & Identity
“What do you do?” Society places a huge emphasis on our career being a way we define ourselves internally and describe ourselves to the external world. Yet, who we are is not what we do. In doing the messy, ugly, deeply uncomfortable work of disentangling our identity from the work we do in the world, so much possibility opens up. What would happen if we embrace the awkwardness and collectively explore where we struggle and succeed in having a healthy relationship to work being one of the many parts of our multifaceted identity as human beings? Let’s find out, together.

Brew Up Business (Boulder Startup Week Special Edition)
SOLD OUT - please contact the session facilitator to be added to the waitlist.

Brew Up Business is a monthly get-together where we discuss various aspects of sales and business development. We are hosting a special edition in conjunction with Boulder Startup Week. It seems only fitting that our topic is: what are the essentials to starting a business? We welcome anyone who's responsible for growth in their business, and who would benefit from sharing ideas with other like-minded professionals.

https://www.eventbrite.com/e/brew-up-business-boulder-startup-week-special-edition-registration-890301304167

DON"T EXPECT A ONE-SIDED PRESENTATION. This is a facilitated discussion so we can tap into the collective wisdom of the group. Together we can share what's working, how people are overcoming current challenges, and brainstorm new ideas and solutions. You are highly encouraged to bring laptops or journals as there are often small breaks to work on your own strategies so you leave with solid action items.
MADE BETTER WITH BEER. Business development can be a daunting subject so that's why we host the event at a brewery. In a laid-back environment with a beer in hand, the goal is to keep things light and fun so we can tackle a "serious" thing in a non-serious way!
SCHEDULE/AGENDA: The first 15ish minutes will be for purchasing a beer if you want, getting settled, tracking latecomers, and light networking. The main discussion will then go for about 90 minutes. The last 15ish minutes will be for wrapping up, capturing action items, and transitioning to more networking for whomever wants to stay later.
SPONSORSHIPS OPPORTUNITIES AVAILABLE. Minimally, we always look for someone to buy the first round or a round for the networking afterwards. And we are open to customizing other options. You would be included in the promotion of the event, plus get the opportunity to say a few words before we start the main discussion.
TIME, DATE, OR LOCATION DON'T WORK FOR YOU? We are always open to running other Brew Up Business groups on other days, at different times, and in more areas of Boulder if there is enough interest. Send us a message with your suggestions. We currently run one at Diebolt Brewing in Denver on the 2nd Wednesday of the month, and another one on Zoom the 3rd Tuesday of the month.
SUGGEST A TOPIC. Let us know if there is a business development topic you would like to discuss at an upcoming Brew Up Business.

5 unexpected business lessons learned from walking every street in Boulder
A few years ago, I set out to walk every street in Boulder. 3 years, 975 streets, and over 670 miles later, I reached my goal. What started as a way to get out of the house during the covid lockdown became a dedicated morning walk practice. Each walk was unique, from seeing horses and peacocks to finding trees with handwritten messages dangling from the limbs. I learned a lot about myself and about how I want to move through the world – many lessons which, coincidentally, also applied to my startup. I started my own business right around the same time, and it’s since grown to a team of three with half a million in revenue. I’ll be sharing my favorite 5 lessons from this walking journey and how they apply to my business, so that you can benefit from my experience in your own line of work. As a society, we recently reached a new record with 42% of us reporting workplace burnout. Don’t let this be you, too — join this talk for advice on how to create a business that’s in alignment with your skills and talents, and that doesn’t lead to crippling overwhelm.

Fractionals 101: What is a fractional Executive & how can they help grow your start-up or Small or Medium size business (SMB) without breaking your company bank.
Fractionals executives are new on the scene.. well..kind of. The term factional is new, the concept is not. If you’re a start-up or SMB, we know you’re on a budget, but YOU also know you REALLY need to hire that VP of Sales to help hire and manage your sales team, RIGHT? Or that CIO to handle the ever-growing need for security in the world of AI and cyber security. But how can you afford to hire a full-time CIO, COO, CTO, VP of Sales/CRO? Fractional executives are your answer. We’re part-time executives.. we come in as contractors with our sleeves rolled up, a wealth of experience, and ready to get down to business! You don’t have to hire a full-time executive with all the cost that comes with that: a large salary… + benefits, bonuses, equity.. and then the hope you’re picked the right candidate and your months of recruiting and hiring landed you the right executive, because you have the resource of fractional talent at your fingertips.

In this panel we will have several fractional executives representing multiple titles. We’ll discuss what a fractional REALLY is, how fractional executives can help your start up or SMB, how you’ll know if & when you’ll need to hire one for your company, & the pros & cons of hiring a fractional. We’ll cover the difference between a Fractional, an Interim, an Advisor & a Consultant. We’ll discuss pricing models & expectations from both sides of the fence, the fractional side and the CEO side. We will end the session with a Q & A. We hope to see you there!

"Heart Meets Machine: Shaping Ethical AI for a Better Tomorrow"
This session is designed for entrepreneurs, innovators, and tech enthusiasts eager to explore how AI can be developed and governed with a strong ethical foundation and real-world applicability.

There is no such thing as AI Ethics but we can all build ethical AI.  Ethics is a human endeavor quite simply summarized as "what we owe to each other".  Join us for a compelling presentation where we'll dive into what it means to be human and put our human touch on this rapidly evolving and transformative power.  During this engaging hour, we'll explore the principles of human-centered AI, focusing on the importance of designing systems that are deeply attuned to human needs and values.
We will also cover the emerging regulatory and governance frameworks that every entrepeneur and founder should be aware of as they embark on their AI startup journey.  This includes the NIST RMF Framework, ISO, and EU AI act along with the dozens of recently introduced bills across the US that aim to govern and regulate AI systems developers and deployers and protect consumers of these systems from discrimination bias and other harms.

Our discussion will cover practical strategies for implementing these principles in your AI projects and businesses, ensuring that you have the knowledge and foundation to build AI solutions that are beneficial, fair, and widely accessible.  Whether you’re a startup founder, a tech professional, or simply curious about the future of AI, this presentation will provide valuable insights and actionable guidance on building human-centered AI.

Let's Talk Trauma
In a society where we don't want to talk or ask about trauma (grief, tragedy, etc.) we avoid conversations with those we work with and care about who are dealing with the heaviest parts of life. When in reality almost everyone is living with at least one trauma, many recent. Instead of trauma being an "elephant in the room" and making people feel more isolated, let's learn how to support one another through life's most trying times and create workplaces where the inevitable (like loss) isn't so awkward and uncomfortable to talk about.

Tamara Fox is the Head of Consulting at Loeb Leadership and an expert in leadership development and culture consulting. Tamara is also a health and wellness coach who helps her clients activate their strengths and resources for sustainable lifestyle changes. Through a client-centered approach, she supports individuals in setting goals, exploring self-discovery, and increasing accountability.

Tamara partners with organizations to take a holistic look at their wellness/wellbeing programs and helps organizations put the right strategy, tools, trainings and resources in place to optimize employee wellness/wellbeing and organizational culture.

Tamara trains, speaks and consults to organizations on the topics of grief/trauma and has helped countless organizations, leaders and individuals learn effective ways to better support employees through life's most difficult times.

Boulder has a vibrant CleanTech Startup community. How do we scale that into a successful and sustainable CleanTech industry?

There are several challenges in going from early stage startup to growth stage scaleup, especially when it comes to the clean tech industry. Examples include: closing later stage funding rounds, selling to regulated monopoly utilities, navigating a complex and fast-changing political and regulatory structure, building a pipeline of mission-driven talent, balancing financial results with sustainability and many more.

Being an early engineer at a startup
Software startups aren't only about the founding team. Join Boulder Ruby as we host a panel during Boulder Startup Week on being an early engineer at a startup. As startups look for product market fit, they need more engineers to build the product and support customers. This panel will discuss the challenges and benefits of joining a startup as engineer #2.

We also have a zoom if you want to join online.

Moderator: Marty Haught
Panelists:
- Bekki Freeman is a software engineer currently working as a fractional CTO and VP of Engineering at several startups. Bekki has worked with Ruby on Rails since 2015, and also has experience with Objective-C and Swift. Bekki loves writing code and seeing her teams deliver business value while enjoying their work.

- Chase Gray has over 20 years of experience with 15 years focusing on web applications. He's played a pivotal leadership role in three separate successful “unicorns”. As a mentor and leader, he helped build several engineering organizations from small teams to large organizations. Chase has worked at companies such as Aurora Solar, DroneDeploy and Google.

- Kasey McCurdy has been in engineering and leadership for 20+ years. He is currently Head of Engineering at Gloo. Prior to that, Kasey was part of a failed startup with three other people; he learned a ton about what not to do. He also worked at Bunchball, the creator of the Gamification space, as an engineer and then VP of Engineering.

- Elnaz Moshfeghian is Chief Product & Technology Officer at Dashy Dash, where she leads product, design, and engineering. She has been engineer number 3 at two startups: Lob and Alto. In the latter company, Elnaz rose to become the VP of Strategy and Operations.

AI in Product: Startup 'Demo and Deep Dives'
Be sure to register at https://www.meetup.com/ai-in-product/events/300627359/

For Boulder Startup Week, we’re partnering with AI Builders on a 2-part event! Wednesday evening May 15th, multiple startups will present 5-minute demos of their product at the AI Builders event at Kiln.
The next morning, AIP will provide coffee and bagels as we take a deep-dive into two of the startups from the night before at Founder Central by Sweater.
We encourage you to join both events to get a look into the incredible startup community in Boulder!
Our deep-dive will take the form of a product teardown of each startup, looking at:
  1. Positioning: How well does the value proposition align with the personas and target market, taking into consideration competitors in the space?
  2. Design: Is the UX aligned to the target user's technical aptitude and understanding of LLMs, prompt engineering, and automating workflows?
  3. Ethics: When we drill into the product, where are the biggest risks for ethics & exploitation? Are there ethical considerations to mitigate?

Crafting Competitive Benefits for Startups: Retaining and Recruiting Top Talent in the Startup Ecosystem
In the dynamic landscape of startups, attracting and retaining top talent is a crucial factor for success. And, let's face it having a startup is hard and working for a startup can also be hard. Oftentimes, as a startup employee, you're expected to do the impossible: learn skills way outside of your "job desciption" (if you even have one) and spend long hours and treat your startup employer like more of a family than a job.

This panel will delve into the art of crafting competitive benefits tailored specifically for startups, with a spotlight on attracting entrepreneurial minds to join your venture.
Our esteemed panelists, comprised of seasoned startup founders, HR experts, and industry thought leaders, will share their insights, strategies, and real-world experiences on how startups can develop compelling benefit packages to entice top-tier talent.
Key Discussion Points:
  1. Understanding the Unique Needs of Startup Talent: Explore the distinctive aspirations, motivations, and priorities of startup employees and how these shape their expectations from their employers.
  2. Designing Innovative Benefit Packages: Learn how to design benefit packages that go beyond traditional offerings to appeal to the entrepreneurial spirit, including equity options, flexible work arrangements, professional development opportunities, and more.
  3. Navigating Budget Constraints: Discover creative approaches to offering competitive benefits within the constraints of a startup's budget, balancing cost-effectiveness with attractiveness.
  4. Leveraging Company Culture as a Benefit: Understand the role of company culture in attracting and retaining talent, and how startups can cultivate a culture that acts as a magnet for entrepreneurial types.
  5. Case Studies and Success Stories: Hear firsthand accounts of startups that have successfully leveraged unique benefit offerings to recruit and retain top talent, with actionable takeaways for attendees.
Whether you're a startup founder seeking to build a stellar team or an HR professional looking to optimize your company's talent strategy, this panel promises to provide invaluable insights and actionable strategies for crafting competitive benefits that set your startup apart in the talent market. Join us for an engaging discussion that could redefine your approach to talent acquisition and retention in the startup ecosystem.

Beyond Transactions: Building Social Capital through Authentic Networking
In a world increasingly focused on superficial networking and one-off transactions, this session will guide you in cultivating authentic, transformative connections that unlock true social capital. Move beyond the typical elevator pitch and explore three key strategies for building meaningful, long-lasting relationships:
  1. Shift from Transactional to Transformative: Discover how to transition from a mindset of quid pro quo to one of genuine curiosity and care. Learn techniques to go deeper, ask thoughtful questions, and make authentic emotional connections that move past the surface level.

  3. Active Your "Inner" Circle for Greater Impact: Social capital is the most valuable currency in today's landscape. Understand how to activate your network to create synergies, collaborate on projects, and drive positive change - both for yourself and your broader community.
Whether you're looking to revitalize your professional relationships, cultivate more meaningful personal connections, or simply learn how to be a more engaged and impactful member of your community, this workshop will provide the framework and practical tools to get you there. Harmonizing “Minds”: Aligning AI with Human Cognition for Better Experiences
Understanding human cognition and mental models is paramount in designing effective AI-powered products and services. People approach these systems with a diverse array of background knowledge and experiences, which shape their expectations and interactions. Misalignment between users' cognitive mental models and AI functionalities leads to frustration and abandonment.
In this talk, using real-world examples and actionable templates, we will explore a design-thinking approach to flush out user mental models and identify their challenges. Then construct a conceptual model detailing the AI system's capabilities and design principles. This foundation allows teams to brainstorm and develop solution concepts that strive for greater alignment between AI systems and human cognition.
By aligning AI systems more closely with how people think and process information, we can forge more intuitive and satisfying user experiences, ultimately leading to more successful products and services.

Build a Thriving Team Culture By Embracing Difficult Conversations: Why Being Nice Creates a Shitty Team Culture
Clear communication is a must in business; sometimes that requires a difficult conversation. Many leaders find it difficult to initiate and navigate these discussions effectively, uncertain of the right timing and approach. This often leads to either rushing into them or avoiding them entirely, hindering progress from the current state to the desired outcome. Through an insightful discussion followed by an interactive workshop, we’ll help you see how being “nice” plays into this dynamic and give you practical strategies and tools to confidently handle difficult conversations so they move you towards your goals.

After the interactive workshop you’ll walk away with...
  • Knowing how to lean into a difficult conversation to move towards a goal; rather than coming out as the “bad guy” or getting stuck in the same old loop
  • With tactics for using difficult conversations to strengthen your relationships and move you towards your goals
  • With the opportunity to connect with other business leaders who are facing similar challenges
We'll be addressing challenging conversations, which is one part of our proven process desgined to develop a cohesive team culture where everyone is motivated, excited, and clear on the roadmap of the company. How to overcome the challenges of not having the right team in place, and how to get your team clear and connected to the mission of the company. This will increase revenue, customer acquisition, retention, and everything in between. We'll be addressing principles that can be applied to people hiring your first team member , or their 500th and making sure they are the right fit!

Voices From The Street: Intimate Conversations from Up and Down Pearl’
‘Voices from the Street: Intimate Conversations from Up and Down Pearl.’

In the inaugural season, this local podcast focuses on the food/beverage/hospitality businesses up and down the Pearl Street Corridor.

. . .

The podcast was initiated by local chef and Registered Dietitian Stephen Menyhart. While launching his own consulting business Molto Cuore, he has immersed himself back in kitchen work for the first time in a decade. While working at the Pearl Street Pub, he met contacts from the small but mighty hospitality crew up and down Pearl.

This led to the creation of this hyperlocal podcast - recent guests have included Marcy Miller of Organic Sandwich Company, Mackenzie Sehlke from the Boulder County Farmers Market, Eben
Forrest from Terracotta, and Nina Khosravi from Kiln.

UX of YOU
UXers help companies deeply understand their customers so they can build the most useful and easy-to-understand products. In 2018, I hosted a state-wide UX mentorship and coaching program with a focus on women in tech, career changers, and all things related to confidence and authenticity in the workplace.

Now as a Mental Health Professional, I've repurposed those amazing UX research tools to help individuals deeply understand themselves.

In this workshop, you'll experience one of the powerful tools in The UX of YOU program. You should attend if you are ready to connect to your core motivations that shape your identity in your career.
  • Do you feel guilty or lazy when you want to rest?
  • Do you push yourself until you feel taken advantage of or burned out?
  • Does an inner critic treat you with contempt?
  • Do you ever feel like you are one or two mistakes away from being rejected?

You'll walk away with a profound new point of view about who you are and a method to explore your emotional system. I realize this is a BIG promise! I've seen people blown away time after time. So join us, and put my big promise to the test.
